You Make Stories Like This Possible
When you give, you help families move from unsafe shelter into secure homes. You help create steady jobs for Haitian men and women. And you help make stories of stability, dignity, and redemption possible.
One of those stories is Peterson’s.
As a boy, Peterson grew up in hardship after his father left the family. His mother did everything she could to care for her three sons. Years later, Peterson began showing up around WHH home builds, and what started as small opportunities grew into meaningful work, spiritual encouragement, and a new future.
Today, he is a husband, father, homeowner, and the head block machine operator helping other families experience that same hope.
Your generosity helps write stories like his.

Peterson’s Full Story
Peterson is a testimony to the power of Godly influence, mentorship, training, and employment.
We met him as a young boy in 2005. His father had abandoned the family, and he was raised by his single mother, who sold goods by the road to support her three boys. He was known as a troublemaker in the community, and school was a challenge because his energy and learning style did not fit the traditional Haitian educational system.
In 2010, this mischievous boy started showing up to the house builds. He helped by painting homes and later learned how to make furniture. He took advantage of company-offered English lessons so he could better communicate with American visitors. Earning money for the first time and being able to help his mother gave him purpose and pride.
As time went on, Peterson continued to work on the finish crew and then found full-time employment in block production. He attended devotions every morning and weekly Bible study, which strengthened his faith and his walk with the Lord.
Having a way to provide allowed Peterson to take the next steps in life. He got married and started a family. He diligently saved 10% of one year’s income to qualify for the employee house build program. In the fall of 2021, Peterson, his wife Cassandra, and their two children moved into a home of their own. It was a true sense of accomplishment because he had made each of the blocks, helped build the furniture, and put the roof on the house himself.
Today, Peterson is the head block machine operator. He works hard to care for his family. He is a good husband who dedicates Saturdays to helping his wife. He is a loving father of three children who is present and involved. Through the faithfulness of God and the generosity of His people, the cycle of poverty in Peterson’s family is being broken.
This is the kind of transformation your gift makes possible.
