Home Building (Details)
A Home Is More Than Shelter
Each home represents stability, dignity, and opportunity. Built by skilled Haitian workers and supported by generous donors, these homes strengthen families and communities while pointing to Christ as the ultimate cornerstone.
Our Process: From Nomination to Dedication
Our home-building process is more than construction—it’s a journey of faith, partnership, and transformation. Every step reflects our mission to glorify God by providing physical security, meaningful employment, and a foundation for spiritual growth.
-
Nominating Families
The process begins with local churches identifying families in need who meet WHH’s criteria for safe housing. -
Family Interviews
WHH leadership conducts interviews to ensure the family qualifies and to learn more about their unique story. -
Matching Supporters (View families waiting for homes)
Each family is matched with a generous individual or group who fundraises to sponsor the construction of their new home. -
Foundation and Walls
WHH employs 8 skilled Haitian masons and their teams to pour the foundation and construct the walls, ensuring quality and durability. -
Carpentry Work
Haitian carpenters and their teams craft and install doors and windows, completing the structure with care and precision. -
Supporter Involvement
The sponsoring group often travels to Haiti to complete the home alongside the family, participating in activities such as:- Installing the roof
- Applying concrete sealer
- Building furniture
- Presenting a care package of household essentials
- Joining the family for a dedication ceremony
-
Dedication and Handover
The process concludes with a heartfelt dedication service, where the home is officially handed over to the family as a symbol of God’s love and provision.
